About LicenseComposer

What is LicenseComposer?

LicenseComposer is a web app that generates plain-English contract templates for indie digital creators. Answer a short wizard and get a commercial license, commission agreement, or collaborator split — with a public verification page and an embeddable storefront badge.

Is this legal advice?

No. LicenseComposer is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Our templates are for informational and educational purposes only. For high-stakes situations, consult a licensed attorney. See our full disclaimer.

Who is LicenseComposer for?

Independent digital creators who sell on Gumroad, itch.io, Etsy, Creative Market, or direct — game asset packs, fonts, stock photos, illustrations, music, 3D models, and similar digital goods.

How is this different from using a free contract template I found online?

Our templates are versioned, jurisdiction-aware, and publicly verifiable. Each generated contract gets a unique ID, a document hash, and a public verification page. Buyers can verify the license with one click, and you have a permanent acceptance record.

Templates & Generation

How many templates are available?

Currently 12 templates across four types: Digital Asset Licenses, Commission Agreements, Collaborator Splits, and NFT Licenses. We add new templates regularly.

What jurisdictions are supported?

Templates are validated for the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Australia, and Canada. Users from other regions can use the templates with an explicit disclaimer acknowledgement.

Can I edit the generated contract?

You can export as Markdown or HTML and edit freely. Note that editing voids the verification hash — the public /v/[slug] page will always show the original generated version.

What's the difference between free and premium templates?

Free templates cover the most common use cases. Premium templates ($5 one-time, or included with Pro) are for complex scenarios: NFT licensing, reseller agreements, multi-party collaborations, and cross-border commissions.

Pricing & Subscription

What does Pro include?

Pro ($9/year) includes: all templates (free + premium), unlimited exports in all formats including PDF, AI plain-English summaries, embeddable checkout links, and public verification pages.

What can I do for free?

Free accounts can generate contracts from any free template, get a public verification page and badge, and export up to 3 times per month (Markdown, HTML, TXT). PDF export and premium templates require Pro or a one-time purchase.

Can I buy a single premium template instead of subscribing?

Yes. Each premium template is available for a $5 one-time purchase. This unlocks generation and export for that specific template permanently.

Do you offer refunds?

We don't offer refunds on template purchases or subscriptions since the product is immediately delivered. If you have an issue, email hello@licensecomposer.com and we'll work something out.

Verification & Badges

What is the verification page?

Every generated contract gets a public URL at licensecomposer.com/v/[slug]. Buyers can see the license metadata, read the full text, verify the document hash, and check the version history.

What does the badge mean?

The SVG badge shows three states: verified (green), unverified (amber), or revoked (red). It auto-updates based on the license record. Embed it in your Gumroad/itch.io product page and buyers can click to verify.

What is a document hash?

Each contract is hashed with SHA-256 at generation time. The hash is stored publicly and can be used to verify the document hasn't been altered since creation.

Buyer Acceptance

How do buyers accept a license?

Share your /c/[slug] checkout link. Buyers enter their name and email, read the full terms, check an agreement box, and their acceptance is recorded with a timestamp. You can see the count of acceptances in your dashboard.

Does a buyer acceptance create a binding contract?

We provide the template and the acceptance record — but we're not lawyers. Whether any specific acceptance creates a binding contract depends on your jurisdiction, the circumstances, and the specific terms. Consult an attorney for legal advice.
